At #kNOwKnifeCrime, we know that conversations around knife crime are rarely just about knives.
They are often conversations about friendships, peer pressure, choices, consequences, and the difficult situations that young people can sometimes find themselves navigating.
That understanding is exactly why we created our Re-Write The Story Workshop.
Re-Write The Story is an interactive workshop designed to encourage young people to explore how decisions — both big and small — can shape outcomes, relationships, and futures.
Through storytelling, discussion, and creative activities, students are introduced to themes surrounding friendship groups, peer influence, and joint enterprise. Together, they examine moments where negative choices are made and explore how different decisions could have created different outcomes.
The workshop is not about telling young people what to think.
It is about creating opportunities for children to reflect, ask questions, challenge perceptions, and understand how decisions can have lasting consequences not only for themselves but for those around them.
Throughout the workshop, children work collaboratively to re-imagine stories through creative expression, exploring how different choices can lead to different outcomes. Once the story has been re-written, students create peer-to-peer audio campaigns designed to encourage others to avoid similar behaviors and make safer, more positive choices.
By creating messages for their peers, young people are encouraged to reflect on the impact of their decisions while helping spread important messages in a way that feels relatable and authentic.
At #kNOwKnifeCrime, we believe education should be engaging, meaningful, and memorable.
Through Re-Write The Story, we are helping young people understand that while we cannot always change the past, we can influence what happens next.
Because sometimes, changing the ending starts with changing the choices we make today.
